Marlborough & North Wiltshire

The north eastern part of Wiltshire is dominated by the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The renowned Vale of Pewsey is dotted with a host of attractive and much sought after villages stretching from  Burbage in the east to the market and brewing town of Devizes in the west. The land is famous for its Pewsey Vale Greensand which is a fertile, free draining and productive soil, much sought after by farmers as well as vegetable growers and salad producers. The mainline railway station in the village of Pewsey allows for easy access to London and also down to the West country.

The ancient and historic market town of  Marlborough nestles in the Marlborough Downs, with its wide high street and close affiliation with the beautiful River Kennet, famous for its clear water and trout fishing

The wide expanse of the Marlborough Downs plays host to the Marlborough Downs Nature Improvement Area covering some 225,625 acres with the aim of restoring & improving the landscape for people and nature by joining up wildlife rich areas. The area is dominated by arable farming and race horse training.

Further to the north is the commercial & urban centre of Swindon, with its extensive range of business facilities, plus the mainline station between London & Bristol. The economic dominance of the M4 corridor is strong and the market towns of Chippenham, Royal Wootton Bassett & Calne have benefitted hugely.
