Chris Powell, a rural Chartered Surveyor in the Marlborough office of Woolley & Wallis spoke to a packed audience of farmers and landowners on Wednesday 19th October 2016 about public rights of way.
With more than 3700 miles of public rights of way across Wiltshire, farmers and landowners frequently find themselves facing dilemmas between users and their farming business. Chris spoke on how to avoid common BPS breaches in relation to rights of way and how to remain within the rules relating to shooting and spraying near footpaths.
Alongside Chris on the panel were representatives from Wiltshire Council and Thrings solicitors.
Chris Powell said “ we often find ourselves having to help farmers out of trouble from inspections by the RPA and I am endeavouring to guide farmers on how avoid getting into difficulties in the first place. The current legislation is complex. In my experience, the earlier the issues are addressed the easier it is to help our clients.”
The event was held at Greenway Training near Lyneham. www.greenwaytraining.co.uk
