Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show
Woolley & Wallis continued their longstanding support for the Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show at the Turnpike Showground on Wednesday 18 August 2010 - and what a successful day it was!
The Gillingham & Shaftesbury is one of the regions leading one day agricultural shows and consistently attracts large crowds. The show office reports that this year was a record for paying visitors and equally for advanced sales of tickets with over 20,000 people attending together with a fine turnout of cattle and sheep. There was a wonderful display of high quality cattle with the Supreme Dairy Champion being won by a Holstein cow from RT & MS Cox of Shaftesbury and the Supreme Beef Champion being won by Messer's White from Wareham with their Simmental bull - both are regular exhibitors to the Show.
The Woolley & Wallis' stand was in its usual prime location overlooking the main area. The show day is one of the farming community's social highlights and many come to meet old friends and have a chat about land prices, the future of the grain market and a host of other varied subjects! The weather for the day was both sunny and wet and when it rained, it poured! At times it felt as if the whole of the showground were taking shelter in the Woolley & Wallis' stand; thank goodness we were prepared and had plenty of Woolley & Wallis umbrellas to give away.
Richard Nocton, Partner of Woolley & Wallis said "I believe that it was one of the busiest days we have ever had at the Gillingham & Shaftesbury show and we are fortunate that so many of our clients, friends and fellow professional colleagues made the effort to come onto our stand and to enjoy our hospitality. We always have a strong turnout and the rural teams from the Shaftesbury, Salisbury and Marlborough offices were there in force to help make the day go so well. We look forward to seeing you all next year on Wednesday 17 August."
