Dairy Show 2008

Woolley & Wallis were delighted to be part of a highly successful Dairy Show 2008 at The Royal Bath & West Showground at Shepton Mallet on Wednesday 1st October 2008.  For the 12th year running Woolley & Wallis have been exhibiting at the Show.  This year was particularly good news with the return of livestock to the show and this was rewarded with a superb turnout of over 260 exhibitors and over 6,000 visitors, indeed the visitor numbers were on par with the 2006 gate (the last show which had cattle) which in the current climate shows the loyalty of visitors and exhibitors.

Organised by Christopher Rhodes, the Woolley & Wallis stand was well presented and many new and existing clients were received on the stand, to talk to the rural team and to share in our hospitality.  The stand was, as usual, opposite the Judging Ring and this years Supreme Championship was better than ever.  The arena was packed to see the Ayrshire cow Sandyford Clover 10 win with a perfect score of 50 out of 50.  It is the first time in 12 years that an Ayrshire has emerged as victor in the Supreme Championship.

Richard Nocton, Partner in our Marlborough office said “the mood and confidence within the dairy industry was buoyant and strong - this came over very firmly.  We likewise are seeing a confidence in land prices and farms with a surge in demand for good quality farms.  We are firmly integrated with the rural community and despite declines in fortunes in the residential market; the agricultural property market has now come to the fore with plenty of buyers chasing very few farms."

Richard Sharland who attended from the Salisbury office was seen in deep and humorous conversation with the President Mrs Angela Yeoman OBE DL and both agreed what a great show it was and a positive atmosphere - interestingly Mrs Yeoman had purchased her farm through Woolley & Wallis many years ago!!
