THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE
To climb Ben Nevis 1340 m, Sca Fell Pike 970 m and Snowdon 1055 m.
John Haywood aged 72, a retired farmer from Damerham in Hampshire successfuly climbed Ben Nevis, Sca Fell Pike and Snowdon in a fantastic total of 11 hours and 25 minutes. The climbs were not helped by very limited visibility on all three mountains and high cold winds above 900m on Ben Nevis.
John undertook the gruelling challenge to raise money for two charities. The first of which is the The Piam Brown Ward, a superb children's cancer ward in Southampton where John's 2 year old grandson is currently undergoing chemotherapy. The second charity is the Myotonic Dystrophy Support. Myotonic Dystrophy is a progressive muscle weakness and wasting condition that has affected two grandchildren of two of John's close friends.
Andrew Donald of Woolley & Wallis and Christopher Saltrick of Saltrick & Saltrick Accountants supported John in his climbs to enable John to raise, hopefully in excess of, £7,000 for charity.
