Working for Woolley & Wallis is like being part of a large, close family. The vast experience throughout the firm, combined with having the most approachable Partners, makes the job so much better. The superb ‘firm days out’ are a special touch, bringing everyone together for a fun time.

James – Fordingbridge

“The last 20 years has gone pretty quickly and it’s been eventful with plenty of challenges along the way! The 2008 financial crisis, Brexit, a pandemic and plenty more!  But we’re still around and have been since 1884 – Woolley & Wallis is robust with strong roots and client relationships which go back decades. It’s well built to negotiate such challenges and to take advantage when the markets are in better shape.  Consequently, it’s a reassuring place to work. It’s not ‘hire and fire’ or ‘easy come, easy go’. But neither does it count those with a sense of entitlement – you’ll be supported but not cosseted.  There will be opportunities to make your mark; to show what you can achieve to progress within the firm and to build new client relationships on top of an existing, diverse client base.

The interconnection between the different disciplines within the firm and between the staff and the various offices makes life all the more interesting.  From my perspective, in the Commercial Department, being able to call upon other staff members in different areas of expertise is invaluable and from an agency perspective it enables me to advise on and deal with a wide range of disposals; from shops, offices, industrial units and investments to brownfield sites for residential development and much in between.

If you come here, you’ll find a friendly staff base, many whom have been here for a good many years and who are happy to support you as you find your way in the firm. If you have a concern or need advice ‘the door is always open’ – it’s that sort of place! And we have fun too (but that’s another story!)”.

Penny Wright - Residential Sales Administrator at Woolley & Wallis Estate Agents Shaftesbury

“I have worked for Woolley & Wallis for 8 years now and truly feel that it is like working within a large family. There is always someone to help whether it be a personal or professional matter and one of the Partners is always there to listen if something is troubling me. I am made to feel valued as a team member and thoroughly enjoy my job, and although some days can be quite full-on, we always manage a giggle at some point.  We often get together with the other offices which allows us to get to know our colleagues better and establish friendships”.

Penny – Shaftesbury office

My journey at Woolley & Wallis started in 2022 with work experience. Six weeks in, I was offered an administration role learning the ropes to the company dynamics whilst also getting to shadow colleagues in exciting new projects

I then approached the company with the potential opportunity for an apprenticeship. Although Woolley & Wallis had not taken on an apprentice before, they were open and willing to accommodate me into the team and I am pleased to say that I am their first apprentice.

They have taken on this role as, not only an employer but a supporting network of individuals who are willing to guide me through my learning and development journey to becoming a fully qualified Rural Chartered Surveyor.

Amy Lane – Salisbury office

Wendy Simister - Trainee Surveyor, Associate

I joined the Salisbury Farm & Rural department in 2014, after relocating from Liverpool. Initially joining the company as a Rural Administrator, I soon became a valued member of the team, particularly enjoying the diverse and interesting work that came with the role.

I transitioned to the position of Trainee Surveyor in 2019 and, after taking a career break for maternity leave, I gained my Associate RICS qualification in 2022, whilst working part-time and raising my young family.

‘Woolley & Wallis has always encouraged me to build upon my experience within the department and were fully supportive whilst I qualified via the Associate RICS pathway, all the while being understanding of the pressures raising a young family can bring.

I continue to enjoy a wide variety of work, with a particular focus upon rural valuations, through which each week can bring something new and interesting.’
