Taxation
The majority of capital taxes require an assessment of value to be made and so it is important that a credible and accurate valuation is obtained.
Woolley & Wallis regularly carry out valuations to underpin the assessment of a wide range of taxes to include:

We work closely with a number of accountants and financial advisors to ensure our valuations are fit for purpose and that we are always alert to opportunities to mitigate the potential tax liability.
Secured Lending
Banks and financial institutions often require lending to be secured against assets (security) such as real estate property or plant and machinery. In these circumstances, it is normal for the security to be valued to ensure it provides sufficient protection to the lender in the event of a default on repayment of the loan. Woolley & Wallis is an approved valuer for many of the mainstream lenders meaning we are able to carry out most secured lending valuations. Time is often crucial with secured lending valuations and so we aim to finalise our valuations promptly and report direct to the lender.
Dispute resolution and compensation
Financial statements
Professional valuations of property and assets are often required for inclusion within financial statements. This is most commonly required in connection with:
- Periodic valuation of investment property held by companies
- Annual stocktaking
Woolley & Wallis has extensive experience in the provision of valuation advice for financial statements and specialise in agricultural stocktaking. All our valuers are experienced Fellows of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) which ensures our valuations are both accurate and credible if scrutinised by HMRC.
Expert witness
Woolley & Wallis regularly undertake expert witness reports and valuations to underpin financial disputes and/or claims for compensation. Our surveyors are acknowledged experts in their fields and have good working knowledge of litigation and court proceedings.
We can accept expert witness appointments on a wide range of valuation issues and are often instructed in connection with:
