Our Advice to attract winter buyers.

Although the end of the year usually sees a slowdown in market competition, buyers hoping to move in the next year will start looking now. When the time comes to put your home on the market, follow these tips to attract potential buyers.

Increase the cosiness.

Give your potential buyers an inviting reception inside your home during this cold weather. Display all your cosy home furnishings, light the fireplace, bake some treats to create a welcoming aroma, and lay out all your plush rugs and luxurious blankets. When visitors huddle through your front door wearing their scarves and coats, your house ought to feel like a cosy winter hug.

Maintain the freshness of your carpets and flooring.

Your carpets and floors may suffer damage from winter foot traffic, so be sure to maintain them in between viewings. Pay attention to the hallway where people frequently walk through mud; you could even put down an inexpensive rug in between viewings to help with upkeep when the outside area is particularly untidy.

Organise the garden and garage.

Your garden does not need to be in full bloom and manicured to perfection right now, but buyers will be on the lookout for good maintenance. Tidy and organise your garage, sweep up any leaves and cut back overgrown branches to freshen things up in time for viewings. Try adding a pop of colour in the winter months by planting pots and baskets with brightly coloured cyclamen, heathers and winter pansies.

Use artificial lighting.

If you want your home to stand out, it’s important to keep it warm and bright during the winter months when we lose daylight hours. Ensure that your home is well-lit both inside and out and that all the fixtures and lighting are in good operating order. To improve the area, think about adding fairy lights or a standing lamp if there are any poorly lit nooks or walkways.

Put curb appeal first.

Even when the sun isn’t shining on your house, prospective buyers are still interested in the exterior. Improving your home’s curb appeal is a great way to demonstrate to potential buyers that it can withstand inclement weather and still look fantastic all year round.  Concentrate on getting all the basics right, clean your windows and front door, keep rubbish bins tidy and out of sight, and consider replanting pots and baskets with winter colour or perhaps spruce things up with a fresh coat of paint on your door.

Make your spaces appear larger.

Even though curling up in a warm corner is soothing, confined, and disorganised areas can have the reverse effect. The secret to creating the illusion of more space in your home is staging. To give the impression of more room, move furniture away from the walls, remove any sentimental items like holiday trinkets, and make use of hidden storage options to free up some floor space. Your house will seem like a toasty winter getaway as a result.
